Minister Chen Deming's remarks to 3rd China Trade in Services Congress 

In an address to the "3rd China Trade in Services Congress" on June 1, Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Deming  outlined China's strategy for the development of its service sector.   He said that according to China's service industry trends "China will import over US$ 1.25 trillion worth [of] services in the coming five years." He discussed China's 12th Five-year plan, which prioritizes the domestic development of key service sectors articulating, inter alia, that "China will nurture 20 big IT service providers of international competitiveness." He further added that "China will move faster in internationalizing the services sector and encourage qualified service providers to follow manufacturers overseas for outbound investment through cross-border M&A and green-field investment." Global Services Summit 2011: Engaging the Dynamic Asian Economies, July 20, 2011 

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk will give the opening keynote address at the 2011 Global Services Summit: Engaging the Dynamic Asian Economies.  This important event will focus on expanding services trade and investment with the dynamic Asian region and will address the "21st Century" issues that pose increasing challenges to businesses in the region and worldwide.  

Trade ministers and senior officials from a number of countries will also attend, including Mexico Secretary of the Economy Bruno Ferrari, and officials from Canada, the EU, Japan, and other countries.
